Review on Energy Suspension 5 18111R Master Dodge by Cory Jacobson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent quality but some parts are difficult to fit

I have used Energy Suspensions kits before and have always felt that they make a good product and have always been satisfied. However, this one disappointed me a bit. Overall it looks like a decent set and most of it is satisfactory, but the design of the bushings for vertical front arm mounting leaves a lot to be desired - they are VERY difficult to install and the instructions provided were incomplete in this area. . I called the manufacturer during the installation and the rep was very helpful with his suggestions and confirming that this is a specific bushing assembly. (There are three parts that need to be inserted and held in place during installation) - poor design. He suggested that it was essentially a two-person job and that they were asking for an internal redesign. Considering this kit has been around for a while, I believe the redesign would have happened many years ago if it ever happened at all. In the end we succeeded with the help of two people and a self-made jig; however, it took too much time and effort. I'm a retired mechanic by the way, so it's not like I didn't have a tough job before. It was stupid hard. I finally looked through the comments on several forums and realized that I'm not alone in my opinion. Some people even mentioned that the competing Prothane set was easier to use. My suggestion: if you buy this kit, call the company and speak to someone on support before attempting to install it.
