Review on Reliable Hot Surface Oven Igniter with 12in Capillary Length: Ensuring Efficient Ignition by Andrew Schreider

2 days works well

2 days works well. It came in a Robertshaw box. I was glad Robertshaw was based in Illinois, so I supported the business in my state. I ordered the igniter with a connector so I didn't have to deal with splicing wires. However, I still had to as the plastic part of the connector is male and the metal pins inside are female. The Amana stove I have has the same plastic connector but the pins are on the igniter side of the connector. This subtle point (actually showing the product image) made the plug usable. Luckily, two ceramic nuts are included in the package, so I just connected the wires to the old connector. So double check what the connector should look like, including the pins inside. Also don't throw away the metal casing around the old igniter, mine was different so I had to replace it with a new igniter. The wires were actually 12 inches. Well packed in foam. UPDATE 2.5 years later: So this article lasted 2.5 years. I bought it back and reinstalled as above. It was boxed and branded the same as the old one. The old one had no cracks in the element but the resistance went up to 5 megohms compared to the new one which was 0.5 ohms so it's worn out. Either way, it's a lot cheaper than a new oven, so I'm willing to get 2.5 years of service from it. Update 2, third stove I bought in 2019, this time despite the picture it didn't have the Robertshaw box or CoorsTec label on the lighter plate but has been working fine for 1 week so far. Maybe another provider.
