Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Titan 11477 Ratcheting Wire Terminal Crimper Tool - Fixed Jaw Crimper for Insulated Terminals by Jake Hill

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works really well with better connectors for COPPER WIRE - hits and misses steel connectors

I have read many 1 and 2 star reviews AFTER using this crimping tool on various electrical connectors. In my experience, the type and quality of connector used makes a HUGE difference. I have cheap imported steel dies on the ends and they don't crimp very well. Some yellow connectors are not fully crimped. I had to clamp the titanium crimping tool in a vise to fully compress it as I didn't have enough arm strength to fully compress the crimping tool. I'm a 6ft 1in / 220lb weightlifter who can lift 495lbs on the bar - arm strength isn't an issue. I then used a titanium crimping tool with Wirefy copper connectors available from Revain. % copper with 3:1 polyolefin heatshrink tubing embedded in the plug. The key here is the copper connector - it's softer than steel, fully compressible and much lighter than cheap steel connectors. Wirefy connectors aren't cheap, but they work great with titanium crimping tools. I couldn't get cheap steel connectors to crimp with my old crimping tool - so it's not a tool, it's the actual connector you use. - I've used it on 12-18 gauge copper wire with no problems. The red/blue/yellow marking on the jaws of the crimping machine is very practical. Better to have a hand like Hellboy or a metal vise. The best design for a lever is when the grips are too close together and the mechanical advantage isn't enough. I can understand why some people might be disappointed with this tool. But with large steel connectors, or even smaller steel connectors, you need a lot of force to push them together - almost pneumatically or hydraulically. This is a $25 hand tool. Find out about the limitations and buy the appropriate connectors and you'll give this tool a 4 to 5 star rating. If not, that explains the 1-2 star rating.
