The controllers are backwards

Not sure if I got a defective one or if all of them are like that but the controllers are backwards. If i try to go forward it goes backwards and if I flip the car then the left stick controls the right wheels and right stick the left wheels. I know how to use this cars I have others from other manufacturers including a tyco rebound so I know how to use it. Im returning it.
