When the pattern is locked it compresses the plastic and changes the profile. This absolutely defies the purpose of the contour sensor. I really want to like it as it seems like a good product at a good price but basic functionality is just missing. Another small issue I've put up with is that the bars kind of stick together, so sometimes you have to work on that to really copy the drawing correctly. If you try to make deeply protruding objects, the plastic legs will pull apart and create a false pattern. I think this caliber would work if the fingers were metal and if the locking mechanism compressed the pattern rather than compressing the blades. It just doesn't work.
