I must be lucky (after reading the bad reviews) because the quality of my Thermasilk is okay. It's a bit large - I think it should fit snugly and under other layers (although I sometimes wear a small t-shirt underneath). It's quite transparent and windy, so its insulating ability only works when something is worn over it. It is ideal for traveling, weighs almost nothing and is compact. It kept me warm without being bulky during a week-long hike in February. If it got too hot, it was easy to detach and slip into my purse (especially with a small reservoir underneath in case I needed to take it off in public).
