the box arrived in good condition. The chunks are heavy, I don't know exactly where the 50% empty space is. I drilled and carved the stone so there was no gap in the middle. This is a good cornerstone, virtually unbreakable. I think the small parts were inserted to add weight, I really don't think they broke in transit. It's possible that when you first mined it, there was more void/empty space in the rocks at higher ground levels. It's good value for money, especially considering the shipping cost. This aspect cannot be surpassed. It's also pretty easy to work with.
