This device prevented Windows 8.0 from updating to 8.1 on my system - error 0x30018 and rolled back to 8.0 on every attempt while the device was on the system. After uninstalling, the update is gone, but you can often reinstall problematic hardware and/or software after a successful update. Not in this case. This device, after reinstalling, showed a Win8.1 blue screen on every boot until uninstalled. The drivers on the mini disk supplied with the device could not be installed under Win7, Win8 and Win8.1 - "Installation aborted". In all cases there was a single error. The driver installation documentation that came with the device did not match the contents of the mini-CD, and it appeared that the CD was generic for inclusion in various optional peripheral cards. It appears to be a well designed peripheral card. , and will likely work once the drivers are installed or the device is initially recognized by Windows. But they won't and won't, so keep looking for a device with better support.
