
I had the same problem with two of them where the system wouldn't turn on in sleep mode. I thought the first one just had problems, but when the replacement did the same, I checked the wiring. I have found that the unit is fine in high power mode as the 12v power is on pin 2 of the fan which is power and ground is connected to pin 1 which is ground. However, when going into sleep mode, 12V is applied to pin 2, leaving 12V but changing pin 1 from fan to 5V instead of ground. I tested this using an EVGA power supply with known working and properly connected SATA power connectors. This switch/hub is simply wired incorrectly and if your power supply is not protected from such a problem, you could burn out your power supply and make it a very heavy paperweight.
