Review on 📐 Pack of 2 Malco FCG2 Overlap Gauge Set for Fiber Cement Siding by David Blackstock

Illustration (1 yellow) Shows correct placement of hardboard. The pattern (2 in orange) is not for assembly, it is for removing the gimbal after nailing it. Figure (3) shows the button that needs to be pressed to release the clip from the fiber cement siding. Picture (4) shows 3 prongs/prongs or whatever you want to call them, but the middle one is longer and designed to slide behind the underside of the siding, while those on each side simply sit on top of the existing siding. When properly installed and flush with the existing part, they can easily support the weight of a 12-foot fairing. They really make 12 feet of hanging siding a one man job. A major flaw in the instructions and details I received (on blind hammering) was that they don't mention a gap that is sometimes left at the bottom. This happens very often, but if you can hang it up with clips and nail it in just one nail [(one) nail holds up the side panel and (one) nail also allows you to twist the other end if necessary to level stay . . ] My (single) nail allowed me to hang the siding with minimal difficulty and be sure it would be very close, if not exact, to my 7 inch opening. I randomly checked the opening before attaching a nail, about 18-24 inches from my hanger/clip, and then I removed the first hanger, then went to the opposite end, got ready to nail that other side, and removed then my other clamp before making sure the trim lays flat with no gaps on the underside of the part to be nailed. I didn't have this problem with gaps on each piece but it was ignored by many and I didn't want to go back and add finishing nails to the face. Except for moving and attaching the plank on the stair, I had no trouble using a hanger/clip, nailing and removing the clip before nailing the plank to the studs. In general things are excellent, if a little pricey. I will continue to use mine and recommend them, just be careful and be careful and they work fine.
