Fur. cracks. Cheap. But cheap enough to be worth it I think.

I have two, the first was open, dirty, used and cracked. The second was brand new, in a sealed box and still cracked. There is a hairline crack in each hole as well as a few elsewhere, all over the black base. How and why this is acceptable to Dremel I have no idea. I think I'll keep the thing because I need it immediately and it really works but I think I'll make my own nailboard with metal hardware and a non-plastic chassis maybe corian, laminate, hard plastic or something I'll report on the progress of these cracks and when/if this thing fails. Also I'm looking for a good ABS crack glue. Sanitary Cement ABS or something like that. It seems like I always have to work on my tools before I can do that can work, and things in general seem to be getting exponentially cheaper but always more expensive. Fur. If I had to repeat it, I could just save $30 and make my own, but I'm more lazy than thrifty, so that's it. One final complaint, though, is that it's supposedly made to slip into the underside of your countertop and they show a cutout shape you could use, but it ignores the "Dremel" badge on the front. It should be vertical or horizontal, but not set to the nonsensical 45* that gets in the way if you want to tuck something in. I think you can always dremel without a dremel badge. I think I'll make a high quality handmade metal version of this and sell it on Etsy. I wonder if Revane allows such conversations? If you are reading this, then so be it! Dremel contacted. At first I was completely amazed. Then I was insulted and lied to. Then they sent me another one. Will it be better than the first two? I'll update when it's here. At this point I am shocked and appalled at the blatant lies the representative told me. Between the "quality" of this part and the reputation, I have serious doubts about the Dremel organization. I might switch to Foredom before spending more money on a Dremel. Hm. The third came here. He also banged. I give up. I'm saving a dime for better gear. The new stuff that's hacky just doesn't work for me.

Pros
  • Equipped with an adjustable rail and large 8x6" work table for light work and precision work.
Cons
  • Not bad but...
