Do not buy this if you want to block stairways or other areas with battleship power. This is made of fairly strong mesh but is said to be repellent and more suitable for use in training (for dogs). I wouldn't use it on small children. The net is attached with adhesive hooks which are strong but not strong enough to withstand a series of impacts. Some have mentioned that the glue peels the paint off the walls. Well, yes, adhesive will do, so if you're planning on attaching it to a wall instead of two railings, you'll likely need to patch and repaint if you remove the adhesive hooks. The product meets my needs for preventing a small puppy from falling down the stairs if I can't get there fast enough to stop the event myself. It's a cheaper alternative to wooden sliding gates with stops (which also ruin paint and gouge drywall, by the way) and definitely not as durable as gates that require a frame to be screwed into the wall or railing. Make your purchase decision accordingly.
