Review on πŸ”¨ Emergency Escape Tool: Car Safety Hammer Window Glass Breaker & Seat Belt Cutter by Ernest Duckett

Good photo of the item, looks functional but read my review.

Due to all the COVID madness that started after I got this I put it on the workbench and forgot about it. When I managed to open it, I saw that while it looks sleek, it's poorly made. The edge of the seat belt was not sharp enough to easily cut the seat belt. For comparison, Frau used my CRKT pocket knife and cut off three pieces before I could use the emergency tool to carve out just one worn disc. The glass breaker pin is mounted in a retractable plastic cover and is poorly constructed with a dual spring system that binds and holds the glass. a small metal needle so that nothing breaks. I tried everything I could think of and couldn't even shatter the test glass. This included helping him with a rubber mallet. I disassembled the end and could see why the feathers were sticking and preventing the striking tip from coming out of the body. It's just bad design, I haven't seen a reliable way to fix this for reliable use. If removed and held in a vise, the striking point can hit the glass and break it. However, you don't need time to take it apart in an emergency. This isn't an emergency tool that you can stick in your console or glove box and expect it to save your life. There are many better models for that. The returnable mine was a waste of money and was recycled. There was nothing that could be useful in another project. To be honest, I wouldn't even write about it if Revain didn't keep offering me account credit to leave a review.
