If you purchase a Humminbird with Mega Side Imaging and install it on your console, you will lose depth readings when you are driving at approximately 7 miles per hour. The MSI is designed to test underbody structure at virtual idle speeds. This makes it impossible to get depth readings while running. In such a case, you need to add a second high-speed converter that needs this Y-cable. Once installed, you can take depth readings when traveling at speeds greater than 7 miles per hour. Humminbird recommended this Y cable and high speed converter for my Helix 7 application. I have no complaints. It works as advertised.
