Review on Pebeo Vitrea 160: Enhance Glass Painting with 45 ml Glass Paint Thinner by Karla Richter

I've used it on ceramic and metal without baking.

I live in a small apartment with very little counter space and needed something non-toxic that dries quickly so I can use the kitchen the same day. Finding color to match an antique ceramic Victorian coat hook was a challenge. It was a gift and it was white. Not a fan of white stuff outside of the bathroom. I decided to try the Pebeo Vitrea in purple because I read the reviews and a lot of people use it for ceramic projects. One bottle was enough for two coats on a fairly large hook. I used a craft sponge and didn't bake it because I'm pretty lazy and impatient too. I wanted to hang the hook and get started right away. It dried completely in a few hours and has been used daily in high traffic areas without chipping. It's not the smoothest surface, but maybe baking will change that, I don't know. I like it the way it is. This is a beautiful deep purple color. I decided to give it another try with a pair of ornate old decorative iron gate panels, not for the exterior but something made to define the interior, approximately 38" x 17". I wanted to attach the panels to the basket and wooden base so I could put them in the lobby to put mail and hang an umbrella on, hide my bag and so on. They were cream colored and had lots of fries but I love their shabby chic and didn't want to change that. I used turquoise Pebeo Vitrea, which I applied in two coats with a sponge. I used almost two bottles because there was a lot of surface area in the panels due to the decorative swirls. I have two layers on each plate of these bottles. It was easy to apply, with no smoke or nasty odors, and dried very quickly. I couldn't put these things in my oven even if I wanted to, that's all. They kept the vintage look and I was able to complete the project the same day. The color turned out to be a little darker than I expected, ranging from deep teal to aquamarine and even darker where the old paint was chipping. Nice! It seems that the finish remains unchanged, but even if it breaks off, it won't be difficult to restore it with another small stroke from the remains at the bottom of the bottle. I can try to use this product as intended. Day. It was a lot of fun getting it wrong.
