Review on ARCTIC Freezer 7 X - Compact CPU Cooler with 100mm PWM ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Fan, Intel & AMD Socket Compatibility, 300-2000 RPM (PWM Controlled), Pre-Applied MX-2 Thermal Paste by Raul Choudhury

From the LGA 1200 socket

This cooler's mounting "pad" extends outside of the LGA 1200 socket area. This meant I couldn't use it for my motherboard (mini-ITX) as the plastic tabs (required for assembly) were not inside the socket and conflicted with the M2 slot cover on one side and another permanent IC cover (not sure what's underneath) on the other side. Couldn't change anything to make it work. I don't recommend if you have a mini-ITX mobile device or if you have something close to an outlet. You'll need a nice extra 6-7mm of free space outside of the CPU footprint (more if possible) in the space above the capacitor, but potentially in conflict with other shields/ICs on the board. I opted for another Arctic 13, ironically it's much larger and not even advertised for an LGA 1200, but it takes up space in the socket and has more convenient built-in threaded holes for attaching a radiator mount instead of plastic grommets. It was very tight, but I didn't want to buy another cooler and I was already on the 13th.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
