It doesn't live up to the hype for me, the first thing that happened was the rubber stoppers holding the handles to the jaws fell off when I got them used for the first time, she lost her snow. I then worked with wood and the sliding clamp reaches 17" before you have to rotate it, but when you do that the closest clamp is 22" so 5" of clearance is lost. Now you can use some blocks of wood to make it work, but I wouldn't buy it knowing it wouldn't hold an 18 inch wide piece of wood.
