The main problem with LED bulbs is that they usually don't "burn out" all at once the way traditional bulbs did. Rather, they tend to just get slightly dimmer each day (sometimes changing their hue, often towards being red). Like the proverbial story about being able to boil a frog in a pot of water if you heat it up slowly, the LED light bulb avoids getting changed because it just gets slightly dimmer every day until eventually you wonder if your eyes are going. We changed out some existing bulbs with these and were amazed.Regarding the features - these are meant to retrofit into a recessed can lighting fixture. I really like that the piece that screws into the light bulb socket is separate from the rest of the LED light fixture. My other ones were all one piece and you don't really want to be spinning such a big fixture around over and over (especially if you're working over your head on a ladder). Here, you just spin the small piece that goes into the socket and then it has a plug connect to the rest of the light. Also like the adjustable spring clips for holding the light in - very easy to use and very forgiving for a wide range of mounting bracket sizes in the original installation. Finally, these have a switch on them that let you choose a variety of temperature colors from 2700 up to 6000K. This is great - we were on the fence between 2700 and 3000K and this lets us see both before picking.Highly recommend
