Bright, sharp contrast lenses. Auto focus is sometimes a problem

I was looking for a lens for my A6000 that would take great macro shots and also be used as a portrait lens. Let me put it this way: I don't think I could have done any better. The lens is insanely sharp. The details obtained are incredible. I did a 2:1 crop and I had usable images. The bokeh is very beautiful. Up close, even at f16, you get a nice blurred background that just melts away. The colors shine. I'm pretty sure some Minolta magic has been added to this lens because the colors are very similar to some of the great Minoltas. The build quality is excellent. It feels very good in hand and the AF MF push-pull switch is the best it can be. It's incredibly intuitive and VERY useful for working with macros. The focus lock and OSS ON/OFF switches are also great and really make this lens very easy to use. The knurled focus ring is comfortable to use and dampens differently in AF and MF mode. MF mode has hard stops at CFD and infinity. It's technically a wired Focus, not a mechanical connection, but it doesn't feel like it. I usually set my camera to DMF for macro photography and then adjust focus by smoothly toggling between AF and MF. Focus is generally accurate, but speed varies. With a good separation of object and background there are no problems at all. But even without that, there is a lot of hunting, especially in the macro range. Oddly enough, there is also a focus limiter. You can limit the focus so that the lens only works in the macro range, but this greatly slows down focusing. I had faster macro focus when set to full range. Yes, I know macro lenses don't have good autofocus anyway. The fact that the focus limiter hurts more than helps is worrying. There is adequate "breathing" of focus when shooting macro. I've learned to predict it and it doesn't bother me too much. All in all, if you have an E-mount case and need to work with macros, you can't go wrong here, and not just because it's the only legal option.
