I bought this fan for a trip taking my two dogs and it was great! The air conditioning in my SUV is very good on the front and middle seats, but doesn't cool the rear compartment very well. On car trips, I switched dogs from front to back and back every two hours at rest stops because the dog in the back was hot. My kids are older and I hate that each of them has to ride in an awkward position at least sometimes. So I bought this fan, stuck it in the back duct and pulled cold air all the way back! None of the dogs were hot and I was able to drive without worrying about it. It has batteries, but I plugged it into a USB port that connects to the cigarette lighter on the back. Highly recommended.
