Review on Superco SM999 Evaporator - Enhanced Replacement for Robertshaw by Larry Blanco

This is a generic replacement for my Admiral, renamed Wards evaporator fan, part number 56488-3. It's just an engine and I had to reuse the family. There was some confusion at first as the motor shaft diameter is smaller than the original OEM block. The parts included a paste sleeve that just said Fridgedair on it, but it worked for mine too. I thought the bushing fit might be too loose, but once the fan was pushed (manually) onto the bushing everything was tight. Supco can be modified to change the rotation of the motor, but the default clockwise rotation matched mine. Assembly was also an initial concern. My unit has a bracket that mounts in the same place as the bolts that hold the supco together and the original unit had posts that could be attached to the bracket. The Supco kit included a dual threaded post with one end tapped onto the Supco screws and the other end properly threaded for the OEM screws that attached the mounting plate. I didn't cut off the original wire connectors and used the nuts that came with them instead. I crimped the correct flat blade donuts onto the Supco wires which allowed them to connect to the freezer wiring terminals. Can't speak to durability but this seems like a well thought out kit for the price paid for the rejuvenation of a 1985 vintage. fridge cool.
