Durability cannot be tested. But the bear is a substitute. On a 2006 Ford F150 4x4 the radio will need to be removed as there is a screw behind the radio. The other two screws are located in the extreme left corner of the glove box. It is very difficult to find the drive where it is hidden. Grab the right part so you know what to look for. Remove the radio and find the part on the passenger side behind the radio. You only see a small part of the drive for identification (the shiny head of the screw will help you find it). You will need an 8mm wrench to loosen the screws. Make sure the head of the gear wrench is as small as possible. Some of them are big and won't fit around the head due to lack of space. I used the Gearwrench brand which was the right size. I had another brand but it was too big. The exchange takes some time. The only part of the dashboard that had to be removed was the bezel around the radio and heater controls. Just start at the undersides, use something like a screwdriver that won't leave marks on the dash and bezel, and work from the bottom up. Draws immediately. Take your time, it can be annoying. It can take up to three hours the first time. I hope my comments help shorten this time as I have not been able to find any specific details as to where exactly this part is located in my car's dashboard. Finding it is not easy as only a very small part is visible.
