Ideal for painting cast iron!

I bought these pads specifically to polish my cast iron pans. When removing rust and old plaque it is important not to use steel wool as steel contains iron. You don't want to rub small flakes of easily oxidized iron into the pan to get rid of the rust. Steel is also stronger than cast iron, and putting too much fat on it can scratch your pan. Copper doesn't rust, so there's no chance of transferring rust to the pan, and it's strong enough to scrape off spices and rust without damaging the pan. your pan than any other piece of steel wool. These pads are copper through and through. I used one set to polish two pans, a Dutch oven and a bread pan. They worked great and I will definitely use them again. If you're planning on re-seasoning your skin, I'd recommend using these pads, a toothbrush, and some phosphoric acid (and a pair of gloves). Many people avoid so-called "chemical cleaners" for cast iron, but phosphoric acid is the perfect cast iron cleaner because it's one of the few acids that will eat away iron oxide (rust) without eating iron (your pan). such as hydrochloric acid and hydrochloric acid. (So don't use vinegar, baking soda, or oven cleaner.) Phosphoric acid turns rust into a protective phosphate coating that you can wipe off or leave seasoning as-is. Much gentler than sandblasting or scrubbing and better for your pots. My cast iron house looks better than new!
