This switch is designed for dual speed fans that require an on/off switch with a normal off position. It differs slightly from the single lever, triple switch commonly used on ceiling fans. It does not come with pigtail wires attached, instead it uses spring loaded wire entry points to secure the wires. I'm not a fan of this attachment method. The wires going there from the fan motor weren't solid, so I was worried they connected well to the spring-loaded insertion points. I ended up soldering the wires so they act like one solid wire when plugged into the switch. Also, the insertion points are on the sides of the switch. The holes on the back of the switch appear to be designed to loosen the wire if needed. I first tried inserting the wires into the holes on the back of the switch but found it wouldn't hold the wire securely. The product could have been better if it only came with flexible wires for use with regular nuts.
