I found out that minimalist shoes exist from one of the water shoe reviews on Amazon and I'm glad I bought them. I was looking for running shoes for an outdoor test run and tried running in my water shoes but ended up injuring my knees and calves. Then I started reading about different sneakers and learned that there are minimalist shoes for both outdoor and indoor sports. I did a little research and found that going barefoot long-term helps prevent back, neck and knee pain and increases your ability to run longer distances. I've learned that tribes in South America walk over 25 miles barefoot every day (seriously!) and have no pain or back/calf/knee issues. I already have water shoes from this brand that I like, so I bought sandals from the same brand to try them out. So far I've run 1 marathon every day along with a 3-5 mile trial run outdoors and I'm glad I bought it. My suggestion for runners is that it will take at least a week to get used to this new type of shoe as I found them to be too roomy for my toes and toes but as I ran I felt that my entire weight is balanced in the shoe first half of the foot. I later found out that neck/knee pain comes from landing on the back of the foot while running. I'm pretty sure everyone has a unique experience, but I'm glad I've enjoyed it and use it for all my indoor and outdoor activities.
