Review on 🎡 Compact Sony CD Player Boombox with Digital Tuner, AM/FM Radio, and Mega Bass Reflex for Enhanced Stereo Sound System by Francisco Taylor

Replacement Sony CD Boombox is fine

Recently my longtime Sony CD boombox finally broke. dust (more on that later). I jumped into action immediately: I went to Revain, typed in "Sony CD Boombox" and that brought me to this one. Based on the mostly positive reviews, I didn't hesitate to order it. The "Sony Boombox Personal Audio System ZS-PS50 Portable CD Player" is much more than a CD player, but for me it is the key feature. Upon arrival I took it out of the box and it literally took less than a minute to set up and get up and running. The first thing I noticed was that the sound was much thinner than the previous Sony CD boombox. There are no buttons to adjust (increase or decrease at will) high or low frequencies. If you look at the description of this product as published here on Revain it makes a reference to "Mega Bass" but that's just not true: there are no Mega Bass buttons to be found. It is also striking how much lighter this Sony CD boombox is compared to its predecessor. Last but not least, there is no remote control in this set. The set also has AM and FM radio and you can play your MP3s too (I haven't tried those features). Verdict: This Sony boombox is functional but honestly inferior in every way to the previous Sony boombox I've had. It has served well for over 20 (!) years, albeit in limited (seasonal) use. It could very well be that this new CD boombox from Sony is as good as you can get these days, which only underscores how much the quality of these products has deteriorated over the years.
