I bought this webcam because the built in camera was very poor for my windows laptop. I just wanted a high quality camera for video chatting or casual video recording. This camera is very cool. As others have said, the camera looks pretty big in the product image, but it's smaller than it looks. The first thing I want to mention is the physical device. None of the parts feel cheap, the body is metal, the foot is rubber, the cord isn't very good but better than most. The foot flexes easily and keeps its shape, feels firm when you place it the way you want it. Speaking of feet, this camera can stand just about anywhere, from a laptop screen to a CRT monitor to freestanding on a table. The versatile stand combined with the ability to pan and tilt the camera over a wide range of motion means this camera is always with you. Installing the camera was a breeze and it's ready to go, at least for my Windows 7 Home Premium. I decided to install the software that came with it so I can record videos and play with deeper settings. The software can be a little resource intensive, but as long as you stay away from big head filters and such, you should be able to get by with any computer for the last 4-6 years. The video chat quality is top notch. I had issues in low light with my previous webcam, but not with this one. It easily manages to capture video in all but the darkest of conditions. Even in a dark room, the light from the monitor is sufficient to record videos. Automatic color matching makes everything beautiful. The microphone picks up the voice well, there are no complaints about it. Like many others, I had a problem with the autofocus. By default, the camera tries to refocus on the perfect picture. I would test it while sitting still in front of him and he would still try to adjust the focus and the image would end up looking exactly the same. Do yourself a favor and turn it off, it focuses just fine without. I wholeheartedly recommend this webcam to the occasional user. Pros: + Moderate size + Excellent build quality + Can be placed almost anywhere + Video quality is excellent even in low light conditions.
