I often have knots on my neck and shoulders. The rounded shape and smooth surface suits curves well (throw your mind out of the gutter lol), but can also be used to more specifically target deeper tissue. I usually lay in bed (here again) and place the massager under my neck/back/shoulder and let my body relax completely. But I wouldn't do it on a hard surface. So far it works great. I'm deducting a star because while it's fairly quiet, it's not as "quiet a whisper" as it claims. So if you're planning on using it as "one of those" massagers, know it won't go unnoticed.
