I've only edge banded a few times in the past and have recently started making a range of cabinets for my workshop so I've ordered a roll to test. As you can see from the photos it goes perfectly with the birch plywood I got from my local home center. I just ordered my third roll because it works so well. As for the seams, I just check them beforehand and carefully finish those areas to make sure my gloves don't ride over or catch on the edges of my pinky knuckles. After holding the freshly ironed ribbon for a few seconds to cool, it stays firmly in place and then I can trim the ends. I used straight aluminum scissors for this, but a razor blade will do the job too. Then I do about 3 light passes with a hand trimmer for the edge of the veneer and sand the rest smooth with a sponge sanding block and these photos are the result.
