Read previous sizing reviews. I ordered both small and medium and decided I would either return the one that didn't fit or give it away because my little fella really, really needed a new coat this winter. His other 2 fleece coats are not perfect. You are too comfortable and restrict him. The other is too short in the back and doesn't have a cone, so it flares out to let in a lot of cold air. He's difficult to classify. 13 neck, 16 chest (I forgot the length of his back but most likely 12; he gets mad when I measure him), 9 lb Chihuahua so according to the size chart he MUST be square mid-range. Now the medium size I ordered wasn't supposed to arrive until next week but the small arrived yesterday and it fits perfectly EXCEPT I have to alter the bottom hem because it's too tight and it will end up pissing off the topic. This is a constant problem with every piece of clothing I try to get for him. Everything is too tight and eventually gets dirty. That little issue aside, great, great, GREAT dog coat. He can go right in and it zips up easily at the back. Fits snugly to keep him warm but I can easily run my finger down his neck and armholes to allow him to move easily. D-rings make it easy to attach the leash. Don't worry about folding up the harness and cutting a hole in your coat for a leash like I did before. No collars for Chihuahuas because of their fragile windpipe. I think he will like that for the winter. I'm reserving the final decision until the medium gets here, but I have a feeling it will be too big and will be sent back. UPDATE: 11/08/2018. In fact, the medium was too large and will be returned. The little one suits him very well. Another nice discovery is that although the hemline matches and makes it piss-stained and I was sure I would have to cut and hem it higher, the tight taper of the product seems to prevent this! He's worn it several mornings, and despite making dozens of marks on each walk, he hasn't gotten his coat dirty once! Hooray Gooby! It's also MUCH easier to put on. He already knows he just has to put it on, and I can take it off and on much quicker than his other coats. Highly recommended. UPDATE JANUARY 2020: After countless washes and wearing it twice a day, the zipper fell apart in my hand. They just fell apart! Discussing paying a seamstress to replace the entire zipper assembly, just buying another zipper, or buying him a new coat. A brand new coat seems overkill as it is otherwise still in perfect condition.
