Description of StrutTamer OTC 6583 Bridge Accessory: Enhance Your StrutTamer Experience
Bridge accessory to be used on springs that cannot be compressed enough to remove the retaining nut. This is an optional accessory for the StrutTamer and StrutTamer Elite for MacPherson strut springs removal and installation.
I can't properly install the bridge in the hands of the Strut Tamer. One of the brackets needs to be slightly longer so that the pins are at an angle so that the upright tamer's jaws can grip enough. I plan to adjust my bridge accessories to the required angle.
Didn't expect to use this anytime soon but of course my brother in law has an Audi A4 that needs this spring compression accessory. You will find out by watching a video clip about this model. I use mine with an OTC 6494 clamshell supercharger on the A pillars of my 2002 Honda Accord. Fits well. Fine. It was definitely safer than compressors rented from an auto parts store, but it certainly could have been better. One day it started halfway because the hooks on my 6494 slipped off the bridge pins. I didn't pay enough attention. Has anyone ever done this safely and reliably? I'm thinking of chiseling each of these thick pins so I can use 6494 locking pins to attach them more tightly.…
When used with the OTC 6494 Small Rack Clamp Spring Compressor it does not fully engage the holders. It's at an odd angle that doesn't allow the spring to be compressed directly (making it very difficult to put back together). I used it on an old Toyota Camry and it was NOT safe. Note: The instructions were followed to the last detail and it still took some creativity to get it working. However, it is a good reliable tool. If there is another way besides the clamshell compressor, it can be very
