I bought this after we bought the Purple 3 mattress and Purple mattress topper to protect our sleep investment. The purple mattress pad was awful, it was noisy and slept incredibly hot, I was unhappy and we wanted to return the mattress simply because I didn't want to pay that much for something I couldn't properly protect. I've searched everywhere for a mattress topper that is elastic enough for the mattress to conform to the body and still be breathable. I still can't believe I found this protector, it's amazing! It's soft, it lets us sink into the mattress, it's silent and above all it breathes! Of course, it's not that much cheaper than the purple mattress topper, and the tailoring wasn't the best, but I have no doubt it will last. I can't comment on the water resistance, but it's thick, I'd say bath towel thick, and that thickness is enough that I don't feel anything getting in or on the mattress. I would recommend this to anyone looking for the best solution to protect their Purple mattress and I think it works just as well for memory foam mattresses.
