Review on ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Table-Mate XL TV Tray - Convenient, Space-Saving Foldable Table for Dining, Work, and Relaxing - Sleek Black Design by Debbie Dixon

Nice tray as is. Nice try with some homemade "fixes ".

This XL tray was purchased to replace one of the smaller versions. I've found that the larger size is better for my aging relative, but there are 3 issues that need to be "tweaked" before I can comfortably fit it into his room. This may sound like a negative review, but I really like the tablet and recommend it. First, both small and large trays can tip over if they hit the front edge. Sometimes he would turn his chair and hit the tray without realizing what was happening. If you press too far, the tablet will tip over instead of sliding out of the way. I found a simple solution: lower the center of gravity by inserting 2 steel rod counterweights into the tray's tubular legs. I found 2 18" x 3/4" steel rods that matched the legs perfectly. This greatly reduced the risk of capsizing. The weight also allows you to fold the top for storage and prevent the tray from falling. The second issue was that the telescopic legs tend to wobble from side to side because the height adjustment knobs are too small for the holes they snap into. . This allows the legs to rotate easily and the tray becomes too loose. I found another easy fix by inserting 2 sheet metal screws into the unused holes on each leg to prevent rotation. This simple solution makes the tray much more stable. Finally, another "problem" was how easily the support bar would slide out of the slots under the tray if you lifted the front edge of the tray. Nothing terrible, but very surprising and dangerous if you don't understand what happened. You can see how I solved this problem: I inserted a small screw into the rod's slot and a nylon wire tie to tighten the rod and hold it in place. With these three changes I am very satisfied with the function and stability of the tablet and recommend it to others. .
