Review on πŸ›οΈ AMP Research Bedstep Retractable Bumper Step for Toyota Tundra 2014-2021 (Non-Resin Inner Structure Bumpers) by Richard Cummings

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect fit for my 2019 Toyota Tundra

The Revain description that says it fits the 2014-2015 tundra is misleading. I called AMP Research Technical Support and a helpful representative told me that part #75309-01A would fit my 2019 Tundra if it had steel bumpers instead of resin. I have a Double Cab, not a Crew Max, but the tech didn't ask which truck I have, so I'm assuming it will fit both trucks, ie with steel bumpers. I ordered this part from Revain just before 11am and it was delivered to my home around 6:30pm the same day. I was surprised and pleased with the quick delivery. I watched a few videos on YouTube and read the instructions before proceeding with the installation at 7am the next morning. First I put some pieces of tape on the bodywork just above the corner of the bumper to avoid scratching it. Then, on the advice of others, he began to remove the rubber stoppers from the bumper under the truck. If you try to pry them open from above, you'll break the rubber tabs off the pads. I patiently worked from the underside of each clip one at a time with a long flat head screwdriver and had no problems. The instructions are adequate, just remember what you need to do, which is to remove the factory mount and replace it with the one that comes with the kit. Yes, it would be great if Toyota installed a compatible mount from the factory, but they don't have that. Again, with patient work, it was easy to pull out the old bracket and install the new one. I installed the spring mount and found it easier to remove two more bolts and remove the small bumper mount so I could turn my 1/2" torque. Wrench for the large 19mm bumper strut bolts, then a 3/8" torque wrench for the two smaller bolts on the spring mechanism. I installed the three cap screws securing the step, replaced the bumper's rubber bumpers, undid the tape and cleaned my tools just before 9:00. I'm not a big guy, I'm only about 180 pounds and the step seems strong enough for me. It definitely makes getting in and out a lot easier. The step is configured so that it can also be used when the tailgate is open. All in all, this is a great addition to my 2019 Tundra.
