Review on πŸ”€ IOGEAR GUB201 USB 2.0 Peripherals Sharing Switch - Improve your searches! by Mitch Emmel

Works, but is it really USB 2.0?

The functionality meets my expectations - two computers can easily share one USB peripheral. Issues: 1) Bundled software that allows you to control the switch from your desktop without touching the switch itself (even reminds you that someone is using the printer/device and asks you to confirm what might be the work interrupts) DOES NOT WORK with Vista x64 (not sure on 32); I found this out after two calls to their support line when the software would not install on my computer. There's absolutely no mention of it in the instructions, user manual, or literature, and the website says it's Vista compatible. 2) The computer insists that I try to connect my USB 2.0 printer to a device that supports 2.0. I scan a lot from this AIO printer and didn't expect these kinds of errors. The device has an amber light under the switch button that flashes constantly (not an intermittent flashing - it's uneven in duration and frequency). There is nothing in the literature or in the user manual, troubleshooting guide, etc. that describes what this is supposed to mean. I'm assuming it's USB 1.x mode (no, the new cable didn't fix the problem). I've had the device for about four weeks. Maybe it's just defective. Curiously, despite the fact that the computer thinks it is talking to a USB 1.x device, performance is not affected. So next time I have an hour or two off I'll give their support line a call to see what they have to offer. This is a good, inexpensive way to print from a work computer whose company policy governs VPN, Wi-Fi, Blue Tooth, P2P, and workgroup connections. This solves the larger issues of applying company policies, so it was worth the money for me. It's much cheaper than a Wi-Fi print server. It beeps, buzzes, and displays status with green, blue, and (oddly) amber LEDs. Really nice - make no mistake which car is "active" or that the switch has done its job.
