Review on πŸ’ͺ High-performance Adamanta 32GB (2x16GB) Memory Upgrade for 2017 Apple iMac 27" Retina 5K Display - DDR4 2400MHz PC4-19200 SODIMM 2Rx8 CL17 1.2v Dual Rank RAM DRAM by Patrick Brinson

Oh no! But first.

My 2 16GB modules arrived today. I'm writing this because many will likely make the same mistake I did. Adamata 16Gb modules in their slots. I then took the original 2 x 4Gb modules and popped them into the 2 remaining slots, put the cover back on and tried to power them on. Nothing but a black screen. Let's get to the solution. Insert 2 x 16Gbps modules in the top 2 banks as bank 0 and the bottom 2 as bank 1. If you want to insert your original 2 x 4Gbps Apple modules into the bottom 2 slots, power on the device. Don't be surprised if it takes a few seconds before you see anything happening, Adamanta's customer service (which has been excellent for me btw) says it's normal on the first boot after installing new memory. The iMac should boot normally with the modules installed as described above and in the image. I love my 2017 27 inch iMac with 4.2 i7 now 40GB RAM, 8GB VRAM and 1TB SSD. SMOKING!
