I was dubious about this product at first, but I really like it. It takes a tiny bit of getting used to from a traditional egg slicer, but worth the small adjustment. It powers through anything you would put in a traditional egg slicer; mushrooms, olives, etc. I bought it because I was tired of the wires busting on my old egg slicers. To clean, I just rinse it and put it on the top rack of my dishwasher. To hand wash, it's easy if you keep some kind of typical dishwashing bristle scrubber handy; a toothbrush works well. I used to use a scrubber for my traditional egg slicer anyway. I would recommend.
