I bought this to have a removable idler on my Harley. Attach an alligator clip to the end, attach it to the positive pole of the coil and it works great at around 20rpm compared to a much more expensive solar unit. When I say much more expensive, I mean a $2,200 solar car. Why don't I put a tachometer on my Harley? Because it's terribly ugly. Oh, I almost forgot as you clamp the alligator clip around the entire black wire. I know it doesn't make sense, but it works.
