Between my chef's knives in the kitchen and my pocket knife collection, I have many knives that need an occasional sharpening. I've tried a few of the small and useless sharpeners and after many less than perfect results I'm pretty sure knife sharpening is either a skill I don't have or it's just not worth the effort. the sharp edge of an old knife. On more than one occasion I have actually replaced dull knives with new ones instead of attempting to sharpen them. I'm happy to report that this sharpening stone changed everything. figuring out how to properly sharpen my knives and now all my knives have extremely sharp edges. Knife sharpening isn't difficult to master, and with a little practice and maybe ten minutes of work, you can turn just about any blade from dull to insanely sharp. Everything you need is right in the box. The sharpening stone is 1000/6000 grit and I find that to be a good combination. The 1000 grit is not so aggressive that you can damage the blade even if you use it incorrectly. The 6000 side sharpens most blades without much work. The manufacturer makes other combinations, from 400 grit to around 8000 grit if you prefer something else. For me, the key was just practicing with inexpensive knives until I mastered the technique. If you've dreaded sharpening, this kit and a little practice will help you sharpen like a pro. Definitely recommended!
