This salt shaker is well built but it took me two modifications to use it. Using silicone glue I glued the glass bowl to the metal base so I could grip it not only by the handle but also by the body. I also cut a thick rubber disk and glued it to the base. which is hollow at the bottom to give it extra weight and prevent it from sliding across the counter. With these two mods, this is an awesome salt container. The spoon that comes with it is very small and I haven't found a use for it.
