Installation on my 2013 Tundra Extended Cab was relatively easy. I decided against using the pre-wired rear camera wiring harness and used this instead. It's JUST enough to walk from the radio to the tailgate. Within a foot is enough. If you are considering an overhead console for a rear view camera, be aware that it may be too short. The 4-door long bed Tundra can be a problem. It's best to avoid this if you have one of these. The tailgate latch was clunky and awkward until I applied a load of lithium grease to all the friction points, including the actual latches on either end of the tailgate. After that it works pretty well and doesn't feel like it's about to break off. Others report poor performance or actual failure if you don't lube everything generously. The plastic isn't as thick as the original and I don't expect it to last forever. But once lubricated, it opens nicely, which is what we all expect from a hatchback. The camera does not capture the darkness very well. The reverse lights don't give me enough light to tell the driveway from the grass. Brighter reverse lights can help. The camera gives me a great view of the hitch area, which is what worries me the most. I'll save it as it checks this main field. For the price it's ok if you don't need to see in the dark. Just keep in mind that the cable is about the right length and the tailgate latch will break unless you put some durable grease on it (ie grease, not WD40).
