Camera Snap and go

The camera does not adjust the viewing angle up or down. Night video is very grainy, and perhaps adding brighter reverse lights can fix that. The rest of the setup was great and looks factory. I can only recommend it as it serves its purpose. I only see that improvements are needed.

Broke after two uses.

Handle is easy to assemble, all lock parts and locking pins fit like factory. It took about an hour to install and route the cables to the main unit. The picture quality is pretty good. Opened and closed the tailgate twice before the handle to open the tailgate didn't work. Upon removing the access panel from the tailgate, it was found that the plastic hinge was broken and the return spring, screw and washer were missing. I was able to drill out the hinge, use a through bolt and spring from anโ€ฆ

  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Good camera - old fashioned plastic grip

Camera is not bad for the price. The view is relatively clear, but the field of view is not very large. The problem I have is the screw/bolt slots on the back of the plastic handle. I was very careful not to over tighten them but after 3 months of installation and use the screws broke the plastic. I had to install a makeshift pad to attach the entire unit to the tailgate and install the screws in alternating holes. I knew this "fix" would not be the end of the problem. I'm looking for the bestโ€ฆ

Pros

Works as it should. I would like better picture quality.

Fairly easy to install. Two bolts and rods operating the latches and that's it. Wiring is something that takes time, although there are many wires that come with the factory wiring harness under the truck. It's not very clear which wire provides the front reversing signal on the Tundra, so I ran a wire to the back of the truck along with the wiring that came with this camera. There I connected the RED wire to the blue stripe. I got my ground from the ground wire to the radio. It works asโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Has flaws

OK camera, not OEM quality. Not good in the dark

Installation on my 2013 Tundra Extended Cab was relatively easy. I decided against using the pre-wired rear camera wiring harness and used this instead. It's JUST enough to walk from the radio to the tailgate. Within a foot is enough. If you are considering an overhead console for a rear view camera, be aware that it may be too short. The 4-door long bed Tundra can be a problem. It's best to avoid this if you have one of these. The tailgate latch was clunky and awkward until I applied a load of
