We painted the wooden steps on the patio leading to the back door and nothing saved them from icing up. They work. most of time. Pros: • Easy to install, comes with all screws • Handles more ice than any other product we've found • Comes in many colors to match our wood. Disadvantages: • At first the paint/finish seems to be peeling off a bit. It's not much, and we've got an outdoor rug to capture it, but there's something to watch out for. • These tracks work. most of time. We don't have direct sunlight to melt the ice, so it sometimes takes a hit with a snow shovel to break it. We are satisfied and will buy again. but there are a few features.
