Great alternative to the expensive Furrion system

I just installed a Haloview wireless camera and monitor using a Haloview Furrion adapter. You don't actually need the adapter, but the installation looks better with it. I tested the adapter separately. I only gave 3 stars. Obviously this is a lot cheaper than the Furrion device. Plus, it's completely ready to go as the Furrion cables are already installed on your trailer. If you're not using a Haloview adapter, the Haloview kit includes everything you need to easily bolt to the outside of the Furion cover or directly to your trailer. You'll need to drill a hole in the Furion's cover for the wires to enter. I would like to warn you that the screws that come with both Furion and Haloview are tiny. I also found that the bolts on the Furrrion Grand Design adapter that was installed on my trailer were over tightened, resulting in the bolt holes being crushed and cracked (another example of poor RV workmanship). So I applied black exterior sealant to all the bolts and seams to ensure a tight seal. At the end of the monitor I have three signal strength bars in the cab of my pickup truck. On a 5 inch monitor, the picture is clear and detailed. The microphone on the camera is better than I expected. I clearly heard my wife and child talking in the backyard. I'm not sure how this will perform in a windy or noisy environment. I wasn't impressed with the monitor mount as it was cheap plastic with small nuts and bolts. It seems to be an endemic bug in Chinese electronics these days. That's to be expected, and since I decided to ditch the Holoview monitor mount, I didn't deduct a single star from my rating. If I cared about mounting hardware, it would cost this thing a star in my rating. Instead, I used two of my wife's hair ties to attach the monitor to the (useless towing) rear-view mirror. Rubber bands work too. If I don't tow the monitor, the hair ties and cords get thrown into a box on the center console. The monitor has adapters and cables that can be hardwired to the tractor as well as a regular cigarette lighter plug which I used. The wiring on my trailer turns on the camera when the headlights or high beams come on. Apparently the power comes from the high beam headlights, which are located just above the Furrion mount. Lights on, camera on. This Haloview is about half the price of the Furrion system, and you get a great camera and monitor to match. Where Haloview fails is in a device to mount a monitor in a tractor. It would work, but it's all plastic and probably won't last long. Mounting the monitor to an existing center rearview mirror was a great idea I saw on a U-tube and it takes advantage of the fact that when towing a large caravan you only see the caravan in that mirror.
