Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Alltrade 648433 Piston Ring Compressor (2" - 5"), Silver - The Perfect Tool for Piston Rings Compression by Rick Bishop

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great - replacement

I first bought this to replace piston rings on a car. The tensioning mechanism is solid and the thumb loop releases the band with a single squeeze. (Make sure your hands are on the band when you do this, otherwise the tension on the band's spring will cause it to open too loose quickly.) At first I thought the supplied Allen wrench was needed to tighten the Bandes could be better as this makes it too difficult to tighten the band past a certain point After installing my four 3.150" pistons I found that this prevented me from getting the band TOO tight. Anyhow, the band was perfectly tensioned, squeezing the rings together just enough while still allowing the lubricated piston to slide easily into the bore. It's no problem that the band se lbst is inserted into the hole together with the piston. Judging by the build quality of this tool, it will be with me for a lifetime, even if I start changing piston rings regularly (I hope not).

Pros
  • For compressing rings on 2" pistons.
Cons
  • Guard
