Review on 💡 Cooler Master Silent Pro M 850W 80 PLUS Bronze Modular Power Supply (RS850-AMBAJ3-US) by Ron Patel

I've started building a new gaming rig, starting with the PSU. Unfortunately this was not my first purchase. I bought a 650w Corsair PSU and was happy with it - until I decided I wanted a Crossfire setup with two 6950s. Let's just say I would push this power supply to the limit. So I went to Revain to solve my problem. When I looked at popular brands like Corsair, I was put off by the price. At over $200 for a 1000W PSU, I didn't feel it. Cooler Master Silent Pro was a good $30 cheaper. Went for it - glad I did! Cooler Master has been in business for a long time and I expected high quality from their product. I received the product on time and I was glad to unwrap such an attractive powerhouse. Very attractive if you value the attractiveness of the case and the build quality is impressive. Mounting to my case was easy and it comes with noise deadening rubber pads that fit between the PSU and the case. nice but hardly necessary. To me, this power supply was quiet, but I didn't spend much time really hearing it since it's on the floor. I didn't bother installing it with the rubber grommets as they actually made it quite difficult to install so I ruled them out. Modularity means you can add and remove cables as needed, and that pleases me when it comes to cable management. The cables are flat, which some of you have called a minus, but for me it doesn't really matter. I've used mini zippers to secure my cables and I've been in business. It comes with lots of cables. So if you have multiple graphics cards, you'll be glad to know you have room for them. The cables slide into the power supply with a nice click, making it solid and able to handle good traction with no judder. If you think that a 1000w PSU draws more power, think of it this way. A: 1000W means it can handle UP TO 1000W, not that your PSU is consuming 1000W all the time. From what I've read, most computers draw less than 300 watts at a time. During intense processing/gaming there will be peaks and this power supply will be more than ready for that. I've been using this PSU non-stop for a month - I've restarted my PC maybe 5 times since then. I leave my computer on. Under heavy loads my PC continues to run great, playing Battlefield 3 under Crossfire on two overclocked 6950s and my overclocked AMD X6. Summary: Pros: - Quiet - Powerful - Black/stylish - Price compared to other brands - Build quality - Modular (a must) Cons: - Some 'flat' cables? - No "sleeves" for cables.
