This is a temperature sensor. It tells you the temperature and then you do your thing. It works and as far as I can tell it gives me the correct temperature. Just remember that the transfer of heat (energy) is always delayed (just like midday is not the hottest time of the day) and this affects the "real" temperature. I use it to make sure the water doesn't scald my coffee (French Press) and make sure to drain the water when it's below 170°. A few moments later it rises to just over 170°. Oh, and another cool thing, you can adjust the clamp. My water jug and milk frother are at different heights so I can move around easily. Added kudos for it!
