It's great for thermometers and timers

We bought a cap making machine for Christmas but forgot to think ahead of time how we would know when the milk for our latte was ready. Ordered this little beauty on Prime and voila. 140 to 160 degrees is perfect for our drinks. It also attaches very easily to our small stainless steel milk container!

Pros
  • Pretty
Cons
  • Some problems

Inaccurate Temperature Gauge

This thermometer reads 15-20 degrees Fahrenheit below the true temperature. We tested it with a digital thermometer and a kettle with multiple temperature settings. The digital thermometer was consistently within 1 degree Fahrenheit of the kettle's temperature, while this product was at least 15 degrees lower and a maximum of 20 degrees lower. Revain refunded us the money.

  • Good Thing
Cons
  • Expensive

Takes temp slowly

In the short time I've been using this thermometer, it doesn't measure milk temp as quickly as I think it will. This means you can accidentally scald milk froth if the temperature rises above 160 degrees. I cannot recommend this product. The temperature of the propellant is best known by touch; rather than relying on an inaccurate gauge.

Pros
  • Brilliantly done
Cons
  • This makes me angry

I would send it back but not worth the hassle.

I can't believe I bought this thing. Its body is plastic, the spring clip that holds the thermometer to the foam container is too flimsy to hold the thermometer securely in place, the range is ridiculously short. I should have looked before ordering. I can hardly believe it. other positive reviews about this piece of junk. I think if the only thing you used to use to take your temperature was your finger then this is an improvement, otherwise I'd recommend throwing it away.

Upgrade your thermometer and timer foam

Good thermometer for perfect cappuccino foam. Pros: Special temperature range for ideal milk temperature (140-160 degrees Fahrenheit), affordable price. Cons: It has to have a plastic protective tube (to prevent accidental knife strikes) and it would be nice if the temp gauge dropped to 80 degrees. For a good froth, try dancing over milk with a steam whistle until the temperature hits 100 degrees Fahrenheit. When the foam rises, follow it. Dip the stick in milk at 100 degrees Fahrenheit until…

Pros
  • It's OK!
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for older people

Frustratingly useless

I bought this thermometer to coincide with the purchase of a new espresso machine because I figured it would live right in our frothing pot and help me tell when the froth is "cooked" so to speak " In fact, the needle barely moves, and we got stuck in a new car and let our thirty day return period elapse before seriously considering returning. This morning when the needle moved about a quarter of an inch (well under first temperature mark of 120F), I decided the foam was already too hot and…

  • Great for a small home

The hottest temperature sensor is approx.

This is a temperature sensor. It tells you the temperature and then you do your thing. It works and as far as I can tell it gives me the correct temperature. Just remember that the transfer of heat (energy) is always delayed (just like midday is not the hottest time of the day) and this affects the "real" temperature. I use it to make sure the water doesn't scald my coffee (French Press) and make sure to drain the water when it's below 170°. A few moments later it rises to just over 170°. Oh…
