The problem with this machine is that you have to freeze the ice slices first and then let them thaw for 5 hours, otherwise the machine will not work very well. This is a problem for kids who just need a quick snow cone. My kids love our old Rival brand snow cone machine a lot more which uses regular ice. After a day of use I donated a Goodwill Hawaiian product and we just use our old snow cone generator with regular ice. Also, the Hawaiian Snow Cone Generator is too big to fit on a regular pantry shelf, so I had to turn it sideways when exiting. The flavors came with nice black spouts and cups/straws, but you don't have to buy a car to get them. Artificial paint is also really bad - both for health and for stains on children's clothes / in the mouth. It is better to use only a natural fruit drink for taste. The Rival snow thrower fits perfectly upright in the pantry and handles ice chips better, so I'm sticking with this brand.
