Review on Rugged Ridge 11226.05 Elite Guard Kit, Black Tail Light for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK by Joe Duncan

I have used several Rugged Ridge accessories in the past and have always liked them, but this product seems to have flaws. I like the idea of a shield that completely blocks the light, but it just doesn't work in practice. Here are my complaints: 1. The screws included in the kit are not flush with the protective cover and are not black.2. When I tried to use the 2 longer bolts to hold the guard and taillight together they were barely tight. I was concerned I might have damaged the tail light or stripped a screw in the process.3. As I tried to line up the internal screw holes (to secure the entire assembly to the Jeep) and pushed the guard outward with fairly light force, I heard a click. The tab on the back of the guard that helps attach it to the jeep has come loose at the base. I wasn't pressing hard or hitting anything, just trying to line up the holes. I may have had a defective shroud but still it rendered the rear end practically useless as it now just wobbles. Biggest problem of all, the inner holes don't match up. I've tried literally everything and had to either drill new holes in the jeep or heavily modify the back of the guard to make it work. Very disappointed. I ended up just throwing away the entire back of the guard and attaching the front with standard hardware. The ONLY saving grace for them is that they look amazing. Too bad the rear doesn't work as it will really complete the look. I might end up trying to attach the Dremel backs but that will be a project in itself. I'll probably just leave them on and try to fit them eventually, but I can't recommend these fenders, especially since you can get a similar set of one-piece fenders for around $60. Hopefully Rugged Ridge can improve on this design because it looks really good, but for now I would stay away from this product.
